After downloading Blender, extract the file and complete the installation process. As I am writing this, Blender’s current version is 2.83, but as long as you install anything newer than 2.80, you can follow this tutorial. Download the latest version of Blender here. Blender is completely free, and you don’t need to signup. The first thing you’ll need to do is install Blender. Remember that organization is one of the must-haves when making an animation. Personally, I use an output folder for all of the frames and a clips folder for each scene in MP4 or MOV format. If you’re publishing your animation on YouTube, you’ll also probably need a folder for your thumbnails, etc. If you’re more serious about making a good animation (which I don’t recommend unless you’ve already got lots of experience), you’ll also probably need an assets, characters, music, scripts, and sounds folder. My recommended file setup for your animation folder is a worlds folder, a scenes folder, and a skin folder.

If you would rather have a video tutorial, I recommend watching JudoTheSurviver’s 2.8 Blender tutorials, which are very helpful for the new animator. Blender’s 2.8 updates changed a lot of things, especially the interface. Black Plasma Studios, the largest Minecraft animation channel on YouTube, has published multiple videos on how to use Blender, but unfortunately, they are quite outdated. Making a Minecraft animation can be done on multiple software, but it is usually done on Blender. Not only does it have almost 100 million players, but there are also thousands of Minecraft animations, websites and blogs. Minecraft, probably one of the most well-known computer games, has one of the largest communities out of any computer game.
